MapPoint 2009

June 28th, 2008 · 5 Comments · mappoint 2009, webfrost

We are starting to promote and sell MapPoint 2009 on MapForums.. it is at www.mapforums.com

MapPoint 2009 is the sixth version of the product, the previous versions have been MapPoint 2000, MapPoint 2001, MapPoint 2002, MapPoint 2004, and Microsoft MapPoint 2006.

Major development and promotion occurred up until the MapPoint 2002 version. MapPoint 2004 and MapPoint 2006 introduced some nice new features and data refreshes, but otherwise had minimal API changes.

MapPoint 2009 has a complete new look and is expected to mark a shift in the trend so that we will start to see active development and promotion of the MapPoint product.

Do you have any information about when MapPoint 2009 will be released? I’ve seen many references to a 7/21 release date (along with pre-sale info using that date) but nothing from Microsoft.

This doesn’t tell you much, but it is a Microsoft site listing the product.

On Amazon it says: Date first available at Amazon.com: April 15, 2008

This is when it first appeared on the price lists Microsoft gives to retailers..

I personally have been talking to a Microsoft manager who every week for the past month has been telling me everything is on schedule :-)

We have Mappoint and have had it for several years. I believe we need an update to the 2009 version. Do we need to purchase the entire software again, or is there an update that we can download to bring us up to date? Please advise.

You do need to purchase the full version again, there is no upgrade.
