This book is bible of computer programming.

It contains most detailed explanation of searching and sorting methods I ever found in a book. Contains all internal sorting and searching and external sorting and searching algorithms.
The only drawback of the book is that all algorithms are written in MIX - some kind of assembler, and because of that they are hard to read.

Comments:
A new approach to improving effectiveness at work and at home. As a hard working single mother and Executive, I needed to manage time better, or so I thought. This book helps to define the difference between time and energy. Following the advice in this book has made me less tired and more producitve. Less time wasted, more work done. Get this book. I also recommend "The Child Whisperer" - not about the same topic, but if you have kids or work with them, the techniques in "The Child Whisperer" will help you to be more effective and efficient in those relationships. Buy both books for a balanced approach. I found this book a waste of money. It's full of half truths asserted as fact. For example, the authors quote the old study that found that it matters what time of day you eat most of your food - morning or night. They don't quote the followup studies that find that after a few weeks the human body adapts and the differences no longer hold. Also I didn't like the emphasis on the "corporate" athlete. If all you want to do is adapt to a fast paced, stressful life, this book might help. But if you want to create a life more on your own terms, this isn't your best guide. Wow! I've never read anything like this. As an executive in a Fortune 500 company, I am a divorced, middle-aged man, who has never managed his life properly. I used to think that I just mismanaged my time. I now see that I've been mismanaging my energy! I used to work all day long, neglecting important meetings, neglecting meals, neglecting personal time, & neglecting personal appointments (such as dinner with my then-wife). And what's sad, is that I couldn't see the forest through the trees. Loehr and Schwartz have shown me the importance of using down-time to reenergize yourself, & the importance of using time away from work for emotional recovery. And I wasn't even familiar with these guys until now - I'm gonna go out & buy all of their books! I recently bought a lot of books online, & ended up returning all but two. I kept this, and "Make Every Girl Want You" by John Fate & Steve Reil. And I want to say a sincere "thank you" to all 4 authors for turning my life around! |
