The “Pages” section now includes a picture of another Frosty baby.. ever since this site was set up, there has been a little girl in a jacket with patches of snow in the background.

Now we have also pasted another picture for the Pages section. It’s a bit darker. To view it, click on Archive or About in the row above. Believe it or not, although it was in the middle of the day and sunny, we were in the shadow of a building and it looks like dusk.

Next we need custom pictures for the Categories and Months! If you would like to contribute a picture, please post below in the comments.

This post continues the run down of the various links that used to be found on the webfrost home page.

MapPoint Magazine

This link to the page that used to be the “store” on the MP2Kmag site – the self-proclaimed independent Magazine for MapPoint.

MapPoint Companies

This links to the Companies subpage of MP2Kmag. This list comes from an old list of MapPoint Partners when MapPoint 2002 was released. They had a decent business development effort going on at the time, and they signed up dozens of companies eager to get referrals as MapPoint Partners. This later was winnowed down to actual Certified and Gold partners and this list no longer exists except at the copy of it that I had lifted for the MP2Kmag site. It seriously needs to be updated!

MapPoint Authors

This was a copy of the MapPoint authors page – the actual place for this is here, it was just copied as a snapshot at some point in the past. Interestingly again it looks like there’s some broken Amazon code at the bottom. Also, it was interesting to see the Maps.com affiliate graphic! I was trying to make money via CJ.com for some time and finally gave up when they terminated my account for not making enough money :-O.

The old WebFrost site sat for decades it seemed collecting dust and otherwise just sitting there doing nothing for everyone to see. It was a scratchpad in essence for various programming attempts and in fact had some Google Adsense code at the top.

The old index page can be found here. As you can see there were a bunch of links at the top pointing around in circles mostly but mostly pointing to nothing in particular. Here goes:

Greg Bear Bookstore

This is a list of ten of Greg Bear’s best-selling books at the time, all of which point to Amazon as affiliate links. It was an early attempt / test at using Amazon’s affiliate system. I think if I added it up I generated 10,000 click and 2 sales of Greg Bear’s books over the years .

Mystery Bookstore

This section was hot for a while – again it was an early test of basic internet programming and using Amazon’s web services and affiliate system. Almost all of the scripts were just barely adapted from Amazon’s own examples. The list of mystery authors was actually lifted from someone else’s web site who was doing practically the same thing.

MapPoint Topics

This links to a list of other miscelaneous links – see what I mean about pointing in circles to nothing?! However it looks like there may have been an attempt at Amazon web service programming again.
